Race Description

The traditional “12 Towers Ocean Paddle Race” Long Course – 17kms This race will see scores of SUP, Prone and Ski Paddle athletes contest an Open Water distance pursuit in the pristine ocean waters of the Gold Coast. We anticipate 200-230 competitors of all ages and craft categories. This race will also see fifteen to twenty of the world’s best paddling athletes battling it out in our own backyard. The start of the race will see competitors grace the sand of world famous Snapper Rocks and Rainbow Bay before setting off on a 17 km stretch through beautiful Burleigh Heads, passing by 12 Lifeguard Beach Surveillance Towers (Hence establishing the race name). Once competitors reach picturesque North Burleigh Headland, they will round an inflatable “turning buoy” approximately 150 meters from the Life Guard Tower at the top of North Burleigh Beach, as they make their final dash for the dry sand finish line.

The additional “12 Towers Ocean Paddle Race” Short Course – 5-6kms This race is the perfect set-up for the novice to the non-serious SUP Paddler looking to achieve personal goals or to challenge your friends. Starting at Palm Beach SLSC, paddlers will head north along the Palm Beach strip toward a turning buoy off North Burleigh Beach. They too will take a final line to the shore for a dry sand finish line. Approximately 5-6kms of brilliant Gold Coast inshore scenery!
